DTI introduces a new line of economical laser diode systems with 2 years of warranty and several unique laser systems with applications in ultra-fast molecular spectroscopy, photochemistry, biophysics, solid-state physics, and material science. The Fluorescence Up-conversion Spectrometers (FLUOMAX) is designed for emission time-resolved measurements in solutions, vapor cells and thin films and fluorescence anisotropy measurements. It is optimized for MHz Ti:Sa Oscillators and it covers fluorescence phenomena from femtoseconds to 2 ns with sub-100fs time resolution. Rainbow 20F is a white light continuum seeded optical parametric amplifier (NOPA) able to generate extremely short pulses. The tunable range covers extremely broad wavelength range with no change in optics. Visit http://www.discovtech.com/Products1-8LDS.htm

DTI has introduced the first motorized and automated stereotaxic instrument for microsurgery and microinjection on mice and neonatal rats. For nearly 100 years the basic design principle used in standard stereotaxic instruments has remained relatively unchanged based on traditional XY and XYZ linear displacement configurations. So not only does RoboMate STX represent the first motorized stereotaxic it is also the lone stereotaxic instrument that can precisely position the probe/electrode/needle at infinitely variable angles with respect to the target. DTI-NanoTech's RoboMate advanced hybrid positioner was featured on the front cover of Vision Systems Design Magazine

DTI NanoTech (Sarasota based division of Discovery Technology International, LLLP) is proud to announce that their latest robotic hybrid positioner "RoboMate"(patent pending) was featured on the front cover of Vision Systems Design magazine, a PennWell Journal devoted to vision and automation solutions. The accompanying editorial, describes how RoboMate in combination with a high-resolution digital imaging camera can be used in positioning visualization and inspection applications.

DTI-NanoTech reveals the world's first combined angular-linear motorized nanopositioning system, RoboMate (Patent Pending).

DTI-NanoTech (Div. Discovery Technology International, LLLP) announces the commercial release of RoboMate™. The first system of its kind to allow a probe/tool/laser to be precisely positioned at infinitely variable angles with respect to the target sample. Using DTI’s Virtual Point™ technology the tip of the probe/tool/laser can remain fixed at a specific point whilst it’s angle of approach with respect to the target sample can be varied continuously. The technology, based on a totally new concept and design principle, represents a quantum leap in micro/nano-positioning evolution. Visit http://www.dti-nanotech.com/hybrid.htm for complete details.

Advanced Artifact Rejection Technology for the flagship range of laser Doppler blood perfusion monitors

We announce a very significant development in laser Doppler blood perfusion monitoring; the launch of a next-generation, signal processing engine that effectively rejects motion artefact noise in the blood flow signal. Artefact Rejection Technology (ART™) substantially reduces and in most cases, completely eliminates motion artifacts or ‘spikes’ in the blood flow data arising from sensor cable movement and/or sensor-to-tissue movement.

After many years of development and extensive testing, laser Doppler technology has been advanced to the point where it can be used reliably in hitherto impossible ‘moving tissue’ blood flow monitoring applications. This development places the equipment we offer at the forefront of laser Doppler blood perfusion monitoring with a technology that is reliable, easy to use and effective even in the most challenging tissue monitoring environments. This is something researchers have been demanding for longer than we can remember. We are proud that we can finally offer them a viable solution.

ART™ will be a standard, no extra-cost, feature in all OxyFlo systems shipped from July 2005 onwards.

The latest release of ColCount software (version 4.3.1.2) includes an enhanced colony detection algorithm developed in response to user feedback.

The 'CHARM Enhanced' algorithm is available from the Cell Preset panel as shown below.

CHARM Enhanced can be selected in conjunction with any customized Cell Preset configurations previously saved to disk. Please note however that in order to maintain the algorithm selection the configuration must be RESAVED (either as a new Cell Preset configuration or by overwriting your existing one).

CHARM Enhanced has been exhaustively compared to the original algorithm and found to consistently outperform it, yielding the following primary benefits:

  • Improved capacity to resolve overlapping colonies, i.e. extended range of colony densities per dish/plate over which the software will resolve colonies in a linear manner.

  • Enhanced capacity to resolve small colonies on dishes or plates presenting extremes of colony size, where a large 'Max Colony Radius' value is required.

The short animations below serve to demonstrate enhanced colony resolution in situations of medium to high colony plating density. Each example represents a different cell line and each animation shows the same area of colonies analyzed using the original algorithm (CHARM) or the Enhanced algorithm with Detection and Filtering settings unchanged.
